Do you remember the days when color laser printers would cost thousands of dollars? Well, those days are now history. Say hello to the HP Color LaserJet 3600n printer using Q6473a. It is sub $1,000 color laser printer, which boasts blazing printing speed at a great price. Let’s take a closer look at this nifty device.
Starting with its physical characteristics, the LaserJet 3600n has a diameter of 15.7 x 17.7 inches. Its size is significantly smaller than most color laser printers available in the market. The size is actually one of its selling points, since it can fit it tight places. It may be small, but it definitely not a featherweight. It weighs 59.7 lbs, which is above average for laser printers.
One of the things that make the 3600n stand out is its networking capability. Most color laser printers in this range do not have any built-in Ethernet port. Its built-in Ethernet port can connect to any wired home network seamlessly. It can automatically detect the settings and you do not need to hire a specialist to connect it.
This HP offering is powered by a 360 MHz process and 64 MB memory. Since it only has one DIMM, the memory is not expandable. At stock, the processor and 64 MB memory can handle heavy printing.
Like most workgroup color laser printers, speed is quite important. Any printer should posses printing speeds that prevent over queuing. The HP LaserJet offers a performance that would easily makes it one of the fastest laser printers in its class. With a whopping 17 pages per minute for both black and white, and color, the HP LaserJet is one of the top laser printers around. Its printing speed is significantly faster with black and white prints, but what really stands out is the color printing. Unlike other laser printers, this printer outputs color documents at the same rate. This is quite unique, because most laser printers slow down when printing colored pages.
As a starter’s kit, HP included four image drums or HP Q6472a toner. There is one 6,000 page black toner cartridge and three 4,000 page toner cartridges for magenta, cyan, and yellow. The starter’s kit capacity is actually larger than what most laser printers include. Printing cost is also quite remarkable. We found out that the average printing cost for monochrome is 2.4 cents per page using a 6,000 page yield toner cartridge. However, a 12,000 page yield toner cartridge can bring down the cost to 2.2 cents. As for color printing, it is 3.6 cents per page. Overall, HP has one of the most affordable printing costs we have seen.
As for power consumption, this HP is one of the most power-efficient devices we have seen so far. When it is operational, it only uses around 335 Watts, which is almost a quarter less than what conventional laser printers use up. If it is on standby, it consumes a measly 48 Watts. The printer can be left turned on the entire day without having worry about electricity cost.
The HP Color LaserJet 3600n printer offers quality and performance. Each page is professionally printed with a crisp clarity produced by the Q6472a. When looking for quality, look no further than the HP toner. Do search a little for toner if you’d like great savings.
